About South Prompts
South Prompts is a free AI prompt library built for anyone who wants to create beautiful, culturally rooted images without spending hours figuring out how to talk to an AI.
Hey, I am Balu. I am a digital creator and the person behind South Prompts.
Why I Built This
When AI image generators like Gemini and ChatGPT started producing genuinely stunning results, a problem became clear pretty quickly. Almost every example, tutorial, and prompt library out there was built around Western aesthetics. The silhouettes, the settings, the clothing, and the light all pointed somewhere else.
If you wanted a hyper-realistic portrait of a woman in a Kanjivaram saree with temple bells in the background, a golden-hour couple shot at a Kerala backwater, or a Navratri look that actually felt right, you were on your own. You could spend an hour writing and rewriting prompts, getting results that were close but never quite there.
I built South Prompts to change that. I write, test, and publish ready-to-use prompts specifically for South Indian aesthetics. I focus on the silk and zari of our sarees, the geometry of our gopurams, the specific warmth of a monsoon afternoon, and the particular glow of a haldi ceremony. I test every prompt on this site in the actual tools you use, including Gemini, ChatGPT, and Midjourney, before it goes live.
What You Will Find Here
South Prompts is organised around the moments, looks, and occasions that matter most. You will find sarees in every silk, occasion, and drape. I feature festival portraits for Navratri, Diwali, Pongal, Onam, and beyond. The library includes wedding and pre-wedding scenes, cinematic couples, and studio and lifestyle portraits. I also cover traditional and contemporary looks for men and women, alongside AI art styles like oil painting, watercolour, vintage, and anime applied to South Indian subjects.
Every prompt comes with an AI-generated preview image so you can see what style and mood to expect before you copy it. You are free to use any prompt exactly as written or customise it. Swap the colour of a saree, change the jewellery, adjust the lighting, or set it in a different city. The prompts are starting points, not finished recipes.
No account is needed. No sign-up, no email, no login. Copy the prompt, paste it into your AI tool, and generate.
How I Work
I write every prompt on South Prompts with a specific output in mind and test it across at least one AI platform before publication. If a prompt does not produce a reliably good result, it does not go live. As the AI landscape changes and models improve, I revise and retest. The goal is a library you can trust to work, not just a list of words that sounds plausible.
I am based in Kerala and everything I build reflects that perspective. I have an interest in South Indian culture that is not performative, a preference for prompts that capture authentic details rather than broad stereotypes, and an ongoing commitment to expanding the library across languages, regions, and occasions that deserve better AI representation.
The site is free and ad-supported. I do not sell your data, require subscriptions, or lock content behind paywalls. Prompts will always be free to read, copy, and use.
