Getting Started
New here? This section covers the basics of what South Prompts is and how to get going in under a minute.
What is South Prompts?
South Prompts is a free AI prompt library. We curate and publish ready-to-use text prompts for popular AI image tools like Gemini, ChatGPT, and Midjourney. Each prompt is paired with an AI-generated image so you can see what kind of result to expect before you try it.
Do I need to create an account?
No. There is no sign-up, no login, and no account of any kind required. You can browse every prompt and copy it to your clipboard without providing any personal information.
Is South Prompts free?
Yes, completely. All prompts on the site are free to read, copy, and use. The site is supported by Google AdSense advertising.
What is an AI image prompt?
A prompt is a text instruction you give to an AI image generator. The AI reads your description and produces an image based on it. The quality and style of the output depends on how well-written the prompt is. South Prompts takes care of that — we write and test prompts so you can copy and use them directly without trial and error.
Using & Copying Prompts
Everything you need to know about finding, copying, and using prompts from South Prompts.
How do I copy a prompt?
Each prompt on the site has a Copy button. Click or tap it and the full prompt text is instantly copied to your clipboard. You can then paste it directly into Gemini, ChatGPT, Midjourney, or any other AI tool you use.
Can I edit or customise a prompt?
Absolutely — and we encourage it. Our prompts are starting points. Once you have copied a prompt, feel free to change names, colours, clothing, locations, or any other detail to match exactly what you have in mind. Small changes can make a big difference to the output.
Can I use these prompts for commercial projects?
Yes. All prompts on South Prompts are free to use for personal and commercial purposes. No attribution to South Prompts is required. However, please check the terms of service of the AI platform you are using, as commercial usage rights for generated images vary by platform.
Why doesn’t my result match the image shown on the site?
AI image generators are not deterministic — the same prompt produces different results every time, even on the same platform. The image displayed on our site is one possible output, not a guaranteed template. Think of it as a preview of the style and feel the prompt tends to produce, not an exact reproduction you can replicate.
Can I download the AI images shown on the site?
The images on South Prompts are illustrative only and are not available for download or redistribution. If you want a similar image, copy the prompt and generate your own version using your preferred AI tool — you will own the output you generate.
Which AI Tools Work With These Prompts?
Our prompts are written to work well across the most widely used AI image generation platforms. Here is a quick guide to using them on each.
Gemini (Google)
Gemini works best with descriptive, natural-language prompts. Copy the prompt as-is and paste it into the Gemini chat at gemini.google.com. Gemini Image Generation is available in the mobile app and on the web. If the result isn’t what you expected, try adding “Generate an image of…” at the start of the prompt.
ChatGPT (OpenAI)
Paste the prompt into ChatGPT and request an image — for example: “Create an image using this prompt: [paste here]”. GPT-4o with image generation supports rich detail and follows style instructions well. ChatGPT is available at chatgpt.com. A paid plan may be required for image generation.
Midjourney
Use the /imagine command in the Midjourney Discord bot and paste the prompt after it. Midjourney responds strongly to visual style keywords already included in our prompts (such as cinematic, golden hour, 8K, etc.). You can add aspect ratio flags like --ar 4:5 for portrait or --ar 16:9 for landscape.
Adobe Firefly
Firefly at firefly.adobe.com works well with our prompts. It is particularly good at producing commercially safe images. Paste the prompt into the text-to-image field and use the style options on the right panel to fine-tune the result.
Stable Diffusion / AUTOMATIC1111 / ComfyUI
Our prompts work as positive prompts in Stable Diffusion-based tools. For best results with photorealistic prompts, pair them with a photorealistic model such as Realistic Vision or DreamShaper. You can also add a standard negative prompt to improve quality.
Getting Better Results
A good prompt is only the starting point. These tips will help you get consistently strong outputs from any AI image tool.
How do I get a result that looks like the preview image?
Use the same AI platform the prompt was featured on (noted where applicable). Make sure image generation is enabled and set to the highest quality option available. Avoid shortening the prompt — every detail in it contributes to the output. Run the same prompt 3–4 times and choose the best result, since outputs vary by generation.
How do I change the style of a prompt?
Add style keywords at the end of the prompt. Common options include: cinematic, watercolour painting, oil painting, anime style, 3D render, vintage film, minimalist, or hyper-realistic. You can also specify a camera lens — for example shot on 85mm lens or wide angle shot — to change the framing.
How do I make portrait prompts more specific to me?
Replace generic descriptors in the prompt with details that match your subject. For example, change woman in red saree to woman in dark green Banarasi saree with gold zari border. The more specific you are about clothing, jewellery, hairstyle, setting, and lighting, the closer the output will be to your vision.
The image looks blurry or low quality. What should I do?
Add quality-boosting keywords to the end of your prompt: 8K resolution, ultra detailed, sharp focus, professional photography, DSLR, or HDR. In Midjourney, you can also use the --quality 2 or --stylize 750 flags for higher-quality outputs.
Can I combine two prompts together?
Yes. Copy two prompts and merge the key descriptive elements into one. Keep the most important details from each and remove any that conflict (for example, two different lighting styles). Keep the merged prompt under 300 words for best results — most AI tools perform better with focused, clear instructions rather than very long, complex ones.
